“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.”
– Audre Lorde
Choosing a therapist is more about the relationship than it is about anything else. If you choose to work with me, it will not be because of some seminar I attended – it will be because we like each other! With that in mind, I would love to tell you a little bit about myself.
I have been in the field for over 25 years and have done a lot of stuff! I am a licensed professional counselor, a yoga teacher, a meditation teacher, and an artist. I have worked in domestic violence shelters, addictions centers, large mental health centers, in the court system for social services, and in private practice.
Over the years I have had the privilege of focusing more and more on the work I love the most – soulful, transformative work with people who are hurting and ready to grow. I love opening up the possibility for people that life can be more than surviving the hard knocks. I love being a witness as people realize they are worthy of love and belonging, and seeing them begin to do the scary things they thought they could never do because they know they can love themselves through it. I love being a witness to courage, liberation, and transformation every day. I love this work, and I can’t imagine doing anything else. I would love to do this work with you.
On the personal side, I have been married to my sweet husband for 25 years. I have two adult sons and two neurotic little rescue dogs that I adore irrationally. I love (LOVE) making art almost as much as I love being a therapist, especially the kind of art where you get paint in your hair, under your fingernails, and accidentally on the carpet. I love travel and adventure, knitting and hiking, and am known for my “Grief Garden” where Mother Nature tends the heartache, composts it, and turns it into penstemon for the bees and way too many cucumbers for me. I secretly wish I was cool enough to be a roller derby girl, but I am never quite got the hang of roller skating and only like the idea of full contact sports.
When it comes down to it, I am just another human on the path towards what matters in life, and it makes life better to share this journey with you. Reach out today and let’s talk about you, and what your best life could look like.
