“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.”
– Audre Lorde
Choosing a therapist is more about the relationship than it is about anything else. If you choose to work with me, it will not be because of some seminar I attended – it will be because we like each other! With that in mind, I would love to tell you a little bit about myself.
I have been in the field for over 25 years and draw from a deep well. I am a licensed professional counselor, a yoga teacher, a meditation teacher, and an artist. I have worked in domestic violence shelters, addictions centers, large mental health centers, in the court system for social services, and in private practice. I have practiced meditation since I was 13 when I had the good fortune to find myself at a community meditation class in a Franciscan priory in Montreal. Peak Experience! Since then I have studied in churches, ashrams, Buddhist temples and the Baha’i Faith.
Over the years I have had the privilege of focusing on the work I love the most – deep soul work in connection with others. This is such a passion for me because I get to be a witness to the magic of authentic connection every day. Such a privilege and a blessing!
I have been married to my sweet husband for more than half of my life. I have two grown sons and two neurotic little rescue dogs that I adore irrationally. I am no stranger to heartache and sorrow, and know what it is like to be in the trenches, broken-hearted and doing the work.
I love (LOVE) making art almost as much as I love being a therapist, especially the kind of art where you get paint in your hair, under your fingernails, and accidentally on the carpet.
I love traveling to places that are moderately adventurous – enough to be excited about, but not so exciting that I miss out on a stroll through nature or good food. I love belly laughing, spontaneous singing, and breaking out into random dance parties. I love hiking and knitting and my e-bike (seriously, so fun!). I secretly wish I was cool enough to be a roller derby girl, but I never quite got the hang of roller skating and only like the idea of full contact sports.
When it comes down to it, I am just another human on the path towards what matters in life. If I can do this, anyone can. It makes life better to share this journey with you. Reach out today and let’s talk about your story, and how I can support you in living your best life.
