“I have come to believe over and over again that what is most important to me must be spoken, made verbal and shared, even at the risk of having it bruised or misunderstood.”
– Audre Lorde
Choosing a therapist is more about the relationship than it is about anything else. If you choose to work with me, it will not be because of some seminar I attended – it will be because we like each other! With that in mind, I would love to tell you a little bit about myself!
I am warm and funny and real. I am no stranger to the heartache and longing that brings you to therapy – I have been there! Life throws curveballs at therapists, too. I believe in the power of good therapy to change lives because it has changed mine, many times over.
I have been married to my sweet husband for 23 years, and have two adult sons and two neurotic little rescue dogs who I adore irrationally. I love making art almost as much as I love being a therapist, especially the kind of art where you get paint in your hair, under your fingernails, and accidentally on the carpet. I love travel and adventure, knitting and hiking, and am known for my “Grief Garden” where Mother Nature tends the heartache, composts it, and turns it into penstemon for the bees and way too many cucumbers for me. I secretly wish I was cool enough to be a roller derby girl, but I am never quite got the hang of roller skating and only like the idea of full contact sports.
It is not lost on me what an honor it is to sit with people through the most important experiences of their lives. I have been in the field for almost 25 years and I absolutely love my clients, and love what I do. I sometimes wonder, “How did I get here?!” I love that I get to witness so much courage and transformation. It is an awe inspiring privilege, and my sense of wonder and gratitude continues to deepen as I mature as a therapist (and as a person)! This work is soul work for me, too, and I am committed to growing and evolving right alongside you. I am just another human on the path towards what matters in life, and it makes life better to share this journey with you. Reach out today and let’s talk about you, and what your best life could look like.
